If you’ve ever felt guilty about an extravagant purchase, then the newly-unveiled Royal State Bed should help to put things into perspective. ITN reports that the bed costs a whopping £113,000, making it the most expensive bed in the world.
Crafted by luxury mattress company Savoir, the Royal State Bed is stuffed with Mongolian cashmere wool and horse hair from Latin American horses. The bed took over 700 hours to make, with every detail being hand-crafted by the same people who put together Kate Middleton’s wedding dress at the Royal School of Needlework at Hampton Court.
The price is perhaps a result of the design being a limited edition for the 60th anniversary of the Queen’s coronation. No more than 60 of the Royal State Beds will be made, and so far only one has been sold in China.
