Well-known Feng Shui expert Liu Ming was facing a dilemma: how could he balance his personal and professional life in one space? You see, Liu lives in a loft apartment in California. However, he also teaches his 30 students there, despite furniture and other belongings getting in the way. Liu wanted to enjoy his own personal area without it clashing with his workspace, and set out to find a radical solution.

After contacting Space Flavor, an American interior design firm, Liu soon got what he was after – a compact living space which enabled him to study, sleep and meditate in privacy. This unconventional eight-foot squared cube has two storeys – a bedroom with an upholstered bed and separate study area on the ground floor, and a small staircase leading to a secluded meditation zone on the top floor.

The cube is mostly made from steel frames and plywood, and can be easily assembled and disassembled with regular DIY tools. What’s more, the cube can be moved around the apartment as desired, thanks to small wheel attachments underneath.

Here at Time4Sleep, we prefer our bedrooms a little larger, but we must take our hats off to such creative, ingenious design!
